It was a memorable day at the Gold Coast Turf Club for Campton Racing, with just three runners representing the stable and an outstanding return of two winners and a runner-up. For the Gold Coasts leading racehorse training operation it was another rewarding result for our owners, staff, and supporters.
Living Free Produces a Powerful Finish
The first success came in the Open Handicap over 1400 metres, where Living Free showcased his trademark determination and class.
After being only fairly away, the six-year-old gelding settled at the rear of the field and was still last approaching the home turn. As the runners straightened, jockey Nick Heywood remained patient before producing a brilliant ride, guiding Living Free through traffic and finding a narrow opening at a crucial stage of the race.
Living Free surged late to claim victory, recording the 9th win of his career and rewarding his loyal ownership group with another memorable success.

Campton Racing Quinella in Race 6
The celebrations continued just over an hour later when Campton Racing produced a stable quinella in the Benchmark 65 over 1000 metres.
Spirit Of Brodie delivered an impressive performance under McKenzie Apel, carrying a big weight before the apprentice claim.
After jumping cleanly and settling just behind the speed, Spirit Of Brodie travelled strongly throughout before showing an excellent turn of foot at the 200-metre mark.
Stablemate Count Nicholas chased gamely after missing the start slightly and fought hard all the way to the line, finishing a courageous second and completing a terrific result for the stable.
